Sugarfree transforms a generic light source - the fluorescent tube - into a custom installation, acting as both a sculptural object and a generator of interior atmosphere. Fabricated from made-from-scratch biodegradable plastic, the project is a part of the studio's ongoing research into natural polymers and their potential uses in contemporary design. The title refers to the fact that the material is produced entirely from non-toxic ingredients that are indeed edible.

Sugarfree was fabricated through a workshop at the University of Texas at Austin Materials Lab where it is also currently installed.
